Station: [17] Trolley
Look up. There were no gondolas on the ropes of our cable car, but so-called sledges. Do you recognize the sled? The wheels with which it runs over the ropes are clearly visible. This is just a miniature installation. One worker could stand on each of the large sledges in the quarry. And now, dear fox, hold on tight, these sledges are called “trolleys”.
Cats, of all things! As if only cats could walk high up on a rope. Foxes can do that too, well, at least if they have to...
But of course: humans only think of cute kittens. They always forget that they also eat cute mice or birds. It was the evil fox - that upsets me!
Ah, be happy. So you can live in the forest while lots of cute kittens are trapped in human apartments.
You're right. But tell me, why did they need the trolleys in the first place? From below, I could never really see what was going on up there on the ropes.
That was easy for me, of course: I often sat on the trolleys at night when it was quiet and kept an eye out for mice. Incidentally, the device to which the hooks are attached at the bottom of the trolleys to transport granite blocks are also called mice. Of course, I wasn't interested in them at all.
I see. The granite slabs blasted or hewn out of the rock had to be moved somehow. And because there was little solid ground in the quarry and the terrain there was constantly changing, cranes were used.
Our trolleys were electrically powered. This enabled them to transport the heavy stones quickly and precisely.
