Description
The European Metal Roofers' and Coppersmiths' Museum in the Lower Franconian town of Karlstadt was originally set up in 1998. It presents a unique collection of old machinery, hand tools, documents, journeymen's and master craftsmen's pieces from the sheet metalworking, tinsmiths' and coppersmiths' trades. Its exhibition ranges from old traditions and working methods to current and even ground-breaking new techniques. The museum's workshop, which is housed in the basement, even offers a chance to try some of the techniques out on the spot. The uniquely quirky museum building is available to host conferences, training courses, seminars and private parties.
