The Kaiserring Prize awarded by the city of Goslar is one of the art world‘s most renowned awards. Since 1975, it has been presented annually to a contemporary artist of international standing. As a result, the medieval world heritage city of Goslar has forged a unique connection between tradition and modernity. The Mönchehaus Museum in Goslar houses an extensive collection that includes numerous works by Kaiserring award-winners. The museum and sculpture garden feature works of art by Joseph Beuys, Rebecca Horn, Andreas Gursky and the artist couple Christo and Jeanne-Claude, among others.
A stroll through Goslar’s medieval alleys also turns up contemporary works by numerous winners of the Kaiserring.
