Station: [2] Archive and Press Review

F: During the Second World War, Lette was hit by several aerial bombs. Some of the village buildings were destroyed, and a number of local people lost their lives. Reconstruction began soon after the end of the war, and new buildings in the typical half-timbered Münsterland style were erected – a process reflected in numerous newspaper reports at the time.

In Lette, we’ve been amassing a systematic collection of newspaper articles, chronicles and other important historical sources since 1940. Over time, an extensive local history archive has been created. That archive is housed right here in the Local History Museum. It’s an important point of contact for anyone making a serious study of local history – though actually, everyone who’s interested is welcome to consult the archive.
