Castle Café @museum.de

F: The castle café with its wonderful view over the Jagst valley was opened in 1950, ten years before the castle museum. It was the beginning of the tourism business here at Langenburg. In the early days, the café was open to the elements. Later, we installed windows, so that our visitors can now enjoy this fine view even when it’s raining. After a small section of the wall collapsed in the 1980s, we again extended the terrace. Today, the castle café can seat 150 people outside and the same number inside. Our visitors can enjoy a cup of tea or coffee, have an ice cream, or enjoy a slice of Black Forest gateau before or after exploring the castle.

M: Feel free to take a seat now – or come back later. You still have some way to go on your tour. Please retrace your steps through the rose garden and then head up the flight of stairs on the right, towards the drawbridge across the castle ditch.

F: The castle ditch used to be part of the fortifications. In the 19th and 20th centuries, it was integrated into the gardens and the park. The flower tubs that stand there now are all from the 1870s to ‘90s.

M: Once you have reached the top, please turn right and carry on to an open area called Lindenplatz. If you look out over the parapet, you’ll have a good view of the Baroque garden.
