You’re probably wondering what an enormous passenger aircraft is doing in the middle of a greenfield site!

Otto Lilienthal would certainly be thrilled!

The "Lady Agnes" – named after Lilienthal's wife – has been parked at the foot of the Gollenberg in Stölln since the autumn of 1989. Exactly on the spot where Lilienthal invented aviation more than a century earlier.

It’s an Ilyushin sixty-two that was once in service with the East German airline Interflug. In the late 1980s, it was due to be decommissioned. But an enterprising Lady Mayor and a daring pilot brought the aircraft to Stölln, and the Otto Lilienthal Association takes great care of it. Please feel free to go aboard the "Lady Agnes". In the passenger compartment, you can view a lovingly designed exhibition about the history of Interflug. You can also watch a film of the Ilyushin landing on the grass runway at the Stölln/Rhinow Glider Airfield – which was pretty hair-raising. And of course, you’re welcome to take a look inside the cockpit!

The “Lady Agnes” also serves as a registry office. To date, around a thousand couples have tied the knot on board. But maintaining a huge, elderly aircraftlike Lady Agnes is expensive, and spare parts are becoming increasingly difficult to obtain. So the Otto-Lilienthal-Association Stölln is very grateful for any small donation that helps to preserve this venerable Lady. You’ll find donation boxes at the airfield and inside the aircraft.
