The curious people of the time used to collect dried plants, stuffed animals from around the world, art or anything unusual. They wanted to have a miniature world in their possession. The result of all this collecting was not only a lot of chaos (as might be the case in some of your rooms), but also the so-called “cabinets”. Places of awe. Essentially, they were early museums, as can be seen here in castle Horst.”
