Station: [27] Death and faith

“When someone dies, relatives and friends are sad. For many, it’s a comfort to believe in life after death. In the 16th century this faith is deeply ingrained in all people: Christianity delivers the promise of resurrection and makes people confident that they will encounter their maker on judgement day – those who lead good lives would probably look forward to being accepted into heaven. A number of religious grave gifts – such as this rosary or a figure of a saint – speak of how strongly people were anchored in their faith.”
