“High up above the construction site you can see master slater Arnt Cratz. He’s making sure it will soon be dry in the castle. Arnt and his assistant are covering the roof with slate. Two handymen pass them the slabs of slate. The slaters have to handle the stone with great care, because it is very expensive and valuable. This is certainly no joke for Rutger von der Horst. Just to be absolutely sure that he is not being sold bad quality material, he even sends Master Arnt travelling; the master roofer was even allowed to choose the slate himself – on the Moselle where the best slate is to be had. For Schloss Horst, that much is certain, it is to be nothing but the best.”
