„After 1925, people came again to the now rather run-down rest of castle Horst: they mainly visited the so-called "people's recreation area", a café and restaurant. On the partly still existing moat one could go rowing and from the garden terrace one could watch the hustle and bustle in a relaxed way. A newly built dance hall was also popular, which remained a popular meeting place until the 1950s. But soon the visitors stayed away, and finally only a discotheque attracted a young audience to the old castle grounds, which in the meantime continued to deteriorate.
