The Bible is the most translated book in the world ... and also one of the most important sources of inspiration for world literature.

From Dante Alighieri's "Divine Comedy" to Umberto Eco's "In the Name of the Rose”, or the bestseller "Pope Joan" – biblical and ecclesiastical themes and motifs are ever-present in the literature of recent centuries. So feel free to browse the titles on our bookshelf. At the front of each book you’ll find a brief introduction.

And the Bible has also left its mark on the other arts. Take a seat on the comfy sofa right next to the bookshelf and immerse yourself in the sounds created by people who were inspired by the worlds of the bible. Some are harmonious and powerful, others may be stirring and pleasurable.

And on the roughly plastered stone wall, you’ll find our small art gallery. Everything here revolves around biblical motifs in art and painting – as you’d expect, given the impressive picture frame.

Christ Blessing the Little Children, the Good Samaritan, the Prodigal Son and the Crucifixion – you can make your way through the whole of art history using those four New Testament scenes as examples. You will be amazed at how many different ways there are to portray one and the same story!
