Station: [09] Hans Grade
Hans Grade was an industrialist and inventor. He designed engines, motorcycles, cars, and planes.Very early on he was interested in aviation. During his recruiting time in the military in Magdeburg, he built a three-decker flying apparatus. (This Aircraft is above to the left.)
In 1908, on the grounds of today’s Elbauen parks, he succeeded in completing the first powered flight in Germany. He quickly improved his aircraft to a monoplane, with which he won the Lanz Preis der Lüfte in Berlin a year later. (This Aircraft is above to the right.)
