Created by the passionate miniaturist artist Dan Ohlmann, this « lively museum », the only one in France, is dedicated to two rare and remarkable art expressions: the art of Dioramas and the art of film sets and special effects. The museum is housed in the magnificent and famous 16th century “Maison des Avocats” in Old Lyon, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The primary purpose of the museum is the exhibition of Dan Ohlmann’s miniature scenes. His complete collection is gathered there, real masterpieces of patience and dexterity, on a scale of 1/12, plus dozens of creations from several artists from around the world.
The other aim is to explain the unknown world of movie shootings and to reveal the secrets of special effects used by the designers. The visitor is given access to more than 500 square meters of original movie sets and to more than 400 original props and artefacts objects coming directly from the American and European studios. The collection is a tribute to the work of great creators who gave life to characters as famous as: Alien Queen, I Robot, Batman, Mrs Doubtfire…
