Station: [101] Dat olle Schloss

"A few steps to the right around the corner of the town hall suddenly lead us into the romance of the little town. A path planted with chestnut trees runs up the hill on which the current office building, a former ducal hunting lodge surrounded by a beautiful garden, is located."

Fritz Reuter walked the path that you have probably just taken up to the castle a thousand times. His godfather, the Amtshauptmann Weber, resided here.

"The traces of ramparts and moats, of old fortifications can still be clearly seen in the alternating hills and meadows [...] and testify to the truth of the tradition that an old knight's castle once stood here and provided the core for the later formation of the town."
