Station: [86] Writing letters
Writing on papyrus was expensive, hardly anyone wrote a letter. I did. Even several times. Because I wanted to keep in touch with the churches I had founded, where unfortunately there were always big problems. I couldn't travel there, so I bought papyrus with the money I had earned as an awning weaver. Because there was no post office. In other words, there was one, but only for Roman officials. So I had to wait every time until someone was found to travel to the city where I wanted to send the letter. This could sometimes take months because only a few people took the trouble to travel.
