Station: [45] Dog
„Even in the Renaissance, there were people who could be proud of their dog. Namely when it was an expensive sighthound, a borzoi or a greyhound. Such a specimen was considered a status-symbol and was spoiled accordingly. The master sometimes even took his dog to official occasions, sometimes for a walk or sometimes for hunting. When the valuable animal died, the sadness was great. Rutger von der Horst even had one of his faithful sighthounds literally buried right next to the churchyard wall. It remains to be mentioned that most of the four-legged friends were treated much worse at that time: The stray dog, which was killed here at the same time with a club of nails, was certainly not an isolated incident. Should you not remember it: This story can be found under audio guide title 28."
