Station: [37] Studioli

“The existence of such a room seems obvious nowadays. However, it was not until the Renaissance that a study, also called a ”Studiolo”, was created in the castle. The room was often artistically furnished and richly decorated. It was here that intellectual people dedicated time to fine arts and science. Here was a space for artistic paintings of great poets or scientists, for globes and maps showcasing the newly discovered size of the world. In a nutshell: there was room for objects of studies of any kind, especially for books. A well-equipped library was essential for any self-respecting noble house.”
