Station: [11] Heinrich and Wilhelm Vernukken
“These two are true artists: Heinrich Vernukken and his son, Wilhelm. They create figures from wood and stone and produce any ornaments and decorations you can conceive of. The magnificently crafted chimneys throughout the castle are their work. Here they are working on a sculpture for one of the towers – which will then be copper-plated and gilded. As yet, neither one of them can be counted among the big earners of the building site, but especially son Wilhelm will have a bright future as a sculptor. Visitors to the castle may sample his work even today: the bay on the entrance wing was designed by him.”
