Station: [10] Kitchen
What shall we do with a drunken sailor? What shall we do with a drunken sailor, early in the morning, dum ti dum ti dum, dum, dum, hic!
Oh dear, I think our puss may have lapped up some of the spilled schnapps!
Schnapps? Who mentioned schnapps?
Come on, Puss. You know you’re not allowed in the kitchen – out! Pronto!
Yes, well... keep your fur on, Mister. And now scram!
That cat is really amazing; sometimes he behaves like a real person. Getting drunk on our moonshine! Well, I never! But he really has no business being in the kitchen. This is a place of work: we extract and preserve fruit juice, we skim the milk and churn the butter, and today, it's time for everybody’s favourite Kliemt sauerkraut. I washed my feet specially this morning, because the grated cabbage has to be thoroughly crushed and trodden. And the best way to do it is with bare feet – freshly washed, naturally. And here, in this nice, cool room, the sauerkraut can ferment undisturbed, until we fill it into jars and sell it.
And with a little dash of moonshine, our wholesome sauerkraut is twice as delicious... and digestible. Oh, beg your pardon!
Father, you and your schnapps!
What do you mean, me and my schnapps! We can be glad we were able to take over the distillery rights along with the farm. Our caraway and juniper schnapps makes good money, so I’ll have no more carping. Let's see how the distillation process is coming along....
Ah! A nice little number!
Yes, but be careful and don't spill it this time, or Mr. Tom will lap it up again and we’ll find him staggering around the kitchen.
